Scott Lobdell writes the first issue of a brand new swing and swat at The Green Hornet, from Dynamite.
This licensed title brings a whole history of stories and storied characters along with it for the flight; Kato, the Black Beauty car, the plane, the masks, the green-ness.
Lobdell introduces a fast-moving story here, where the Green Hornet is quickly in confrontation over a fallen space rock, the military, a missing baby, and aliens!
Lee Weeks contributes a strongly composed “Front Cover A”, and the interiors are ably illustrated by Anthony Marques, who also colours. Marques’ pencils are inked by J. Bone.
The drawing style is cartoon/realism, and the colouring is, well, pale green. It’s not full colour, that is, it’s black line, black silhouettes and lots of pale green. But it somehow all works, as unorthodox as it may be. A retro-current-futuristic pastiche of old, new, and borrowed and green. And moving fast in your direction!
