Max Bemis writes this story of nightmares and crude shock. The language gets blue, the blood a red-purple. Together with Eryk Donovan on art and Cris Peter on colours, the creative team leave no rock unturned in this futuristic city, “halfway between earth and something better”. The manga-influenced lines of action signify a high body count and many bloody noses. The drawings are direct, dark, and dynamic. The colouring is vivid, with blues and reds pouring out the corners of our collective vision.
Our lead character, Bill, has a big pink scar right across his face, and he’s a “Heavy”. A time-traveling assassin, who does what others fear to do, or just can’t do. The drawings are wild, the exaggeration is immense, the fight scenes savage. The swearing will disturb the sensitive and delight the thrill seeker. There is a delightful ‘go for it’ spirit in “Heavy” that will appeal to the audience, where we’re thrown into chaotic situations with Bill, and have to navigate our way out, kicking and battling.
It’s way out, it’s wonderful for those who are built for the harsh unrelenting power of the violence, savagery, and brutal take on hitmen of the future.
