Relationships are at the heart of Jeffrey Brown’s black and white comic stories, and a new collection is borne from his examination of matters of love. Loved and Lost, a 600-page graphic novel, released from IDW, reprints three titles, Clumsy, Unlikely, and Any Easy Intimacy.
Jeffrey Brown, well-known (Ignatz and Eisner winner) in the indie comic world, started drawing these stories twenty years ago. The simple ink line drawings portrayed the tender little moments in his relationships. The awkward times, the loving remarks, the cringy mistakes, and mishaps.
Loved and Lost brings together all of this material, page after page of simply drawn slices of life, scenes from memories and longing. It’s a touching series of short strips, most running a few pages. The fresh and frank delivery, unvarnished by glossy drawing or ’setting the scene’ results in some very entertaining and revealing situations that we can all relate to.
IDW, Top Shelf, Loved and Lost, black and white interiors, 5.5” x 8.375” high soft cover, 608 pages of content for $29.99. Parental advisory for explicit content.
