“Thank you for an incredible first 24-hours!” Stated Ran writer/artist Billy Tucci. “Ran has charged from the gate at breakneck speed, and Deborah (Tucci, Crusade Comics’ Executive Director) and I astonished by our pledging partners who made our dreams of seeing Ran’s untold story become reality.”
Ran is a comic that is thirty-five years in the making, as the character is Tucci’s first and the one that evolved into Tucci’s multi-Eisner Award nominee, Shi.
In the past thirty-years Shi has garnered accolades, sold millions of comics and along with Brian Pulido’s Lady Death and Vampirella, launched the Bad Girl genre.
Now, and for the first time ever, Eisner Award winner and Inkpot recipient Billy Tucci brings back the character who inspired Shi (who first debuted in 1993’s Razor Annual #1) to fans with her very first graphic novel, Revenge of the Warrior. The 48-page, full color graphic novel, explores the character who started it all and in her most raw and savage form.
Set within the violent, neon-lit, Kabukichō district of Tokyo 1993, Revenge of the Warrior details one young woman’s battle for justice against American sex-trafficking, ex-pat killers aligned with the notorious Yakuza crime syndicate.

Crusade Comics’ 11th Indiegogo, Ran: Revenge of the Warrior launched this past Wednesday, October 22nd, and reached its initial funding goal in less than ten minutes. In Ran’s first 24-hours alone, Billy Tucci’s sexy, neon-noir tale of vengeance now closes in on $50K in pledge returns and has already unlocked it first Stretch Goal, the Ran Hardcover Trading Card FREE to all backers who pledged for a physical perk.
