All-New Invincible Universe Stories, Including the Origin of Ella Mental, Begin Here!
Today Skybound and Image Comics revealed that Capes #7, from writer Benito Cereno (Invincible Presents: Atom Eve, Blood & Thunder), artist/colorist Mark Englert (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), and letterer Rus Wooton (Invincible Universe: Battle Beast), has sold out at the distributor level and will return to comic book shops with a second printing on June 24, 2026.
To meet the incredible fan demand, Capes #7 returns with a brand-new cover from acclaimed artist Chris Burnham (Nameless) and colorist Brian Reber (Invincible)!
“Capes issue #7 has already sold out? Is that what you’re saying to me?” Asked Robert Kirkman. “Well, we should probably get started on a 2nd printing right now, shouldn’t we? Oh, the cover’s done? Wow. That looks cool. Well, when does the press release go out? Oh.”
Capes #7 kicks off all-new stories exploring the most unexpected corner of the Invincible Universe with Benito Cereno and Mark Englert introducing the biggest mission in Capes history! With Invincible off-planet fighting the Viltrumite War and the new Guardians of the Globe battling The Order, now’s the time for Capes, Inc to become the face of superpowered crime-fighting. But has Bolt already made the one mistake that could doom Capes?
The issue also includes the first appearance of Ella Mental, a new Invincible Universe character from the Invincible VS game, in the first chapter of new backup stories by Invincible creators Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker, with colors by Annalisa Leoni.

The Invincible Universe has never been hotter. Season 4 of the hit animated series wrapped its unforgettable run on Prime Video last month and a fifth season is in production now. Skybound and Quarter Up’s newly released tag fighting game Invincible VS, which features Ella Mental, recently surpassed one million players.
