Mad Cave Studios‘ Maverick imprint proudly presents TIGER GIRLS, the stunning young adult graphic novel from best-selling writer Felicia Low-Jimenez (Sherlock Sam), artist Claire Low, and award-winning letterer Taylor Esposito. Collecting the celebrated webcomic alongside an exclusive new short story and bonus behind-the-scenes material, this haunting fantasy adventure explores destiny, sisterhood, and the courage to challenge the future.
In a world where every person bears the mark of their Chinese zodiac sign, Tiger-born girls are feared as omens of calamity—and quietly eliminated. But Suling is the rare survivor, raised in secrecy on the remote Tiger Island among her fierce but isolated Tiger Sisters. Forced into the role of record-keeper, Suling longs for something more—freedom, purpose, answers.
When a mysterious woman washes ashore during a raging monsoon, Suling’s carefully controlled world splits open. The stranger carries dangerous knowledge of the mainland… and secrets linked to Suling’s own past. As tensions rise and the island’s future is thrown into doubt, Suling must decide: will she embrace her fate, or rewrite it?

“Growing up in Singapore, I’ve always felt our superstitions and myths live alongside us,” said Felicia Low-Jimenez. “It’s not uncommon to have our classroom sizes determined by the Chinese zodiac. Despite all our modernity, we are still deeply rooted in our traditional beliefs, which wield an almost uncanny power over us. Tiger Girls takes this idea to the extreme and explores what if something as random as the date and time we were born could determine our life or death. Southeast Asian-inspired dystopias are rare in fiction, and it was incredibly rewarding to work with Claire to visualize what this world could look like.”
Claire Low added, “Tiger Girls is a rain and blood-soaked alternate reality of what can very easily be our world. Like the oppressive darkness of a monsoon storm hanging overhead, it shows how, with enough pressure, humanity can so easily be stripped from marginalised groups for arbitrary reasons, demanding each incremental concession of morals in the name of public good. I hope Tiger Girls encourages readers to question their learned reality. To seek their own conclusions rather than accepting what is given simply because it is familiar or comfortable. It is an honour to illustrate this story and its vital message as my debut comic.”
Tiger Girls is a richly imagined fantasy world for those who love tales of young heroes challenging the systems built to control them. Blending mythology, mystery, and adventure, it offers an unforgettable journey for fans of graphic novels that balance action with emotional depth.
Tiger Girls goes on sale September 15, 2026, in paperback (ISBN: 9781545835951 | $16.99). Readers can preorder the graphic novel through their local comic shop, bookstore, or preferred online retailer.
