The Sins of the Father arc wraps up here!

After the search for the truth about Daniel West aka (New 52) Reverse Flash, The Flash, Kid Flash, and Captain Boomerang are at the mercy of the Weavers. With this ruthless mercenary group front and center, ready to snuff out The Flash and his comrades, will Kid Flash finally find the truth he is searching for? And will The Flash and Captain Boomerang be able to set aside their differences in time before they become swiss cheese?

Joshua Williamson has continued to make this series a fast-paced adventure series that has heart in every arc. There are great moments in this issue such as the chemistry between The Flash and Captain Boomerang. Their bickering is a highlight in this issue, but what really makes this issue special is the focus on Wally aka Kid Flash’s pursuit for the whereabouts of his father. Williamson knows how to weave and balance character interactions, action, and inner monologs that all feel appropriately timed and placed. Despite the story being one of the shorter arcs, what really makes this issue is its final pages which hints not only to the mysteries of DC Rebirth but also to the formation of the new 52. That moment really makes it exciting in regards to what Both Joshua Williamson and Tom King are developing for both the Flash and Batman titles.

The art by Jesus Merino is very much in the mold of the essential comic book style, providing action and stylistic scenes that help the story move along visually. Di Giandomenico artwork for the middle of the book to the end really makes this issue much more enjoyable to read visually. Giandomenico provides some great scenes between Wally (Kid Flash) and The Flash when they have their heart to heart discussions in regards to secrets, loss and pain that couldn’t be executed in that same vein by most other illustrators. The Inks by Andy Owens are great and the color work by Sotomayor is executed well. Steve Wands lettering is also satisfying as well, providing good placement of text, especially when The Flash is monologuing internally. This is a good issue that does a good job at furthering the partnership of The Flash and Wally, and sets up a long-awaited storyline that’s finally coming into fruition.
