Eve Stranger, the young woman with perpetual amnesia, wakes up over and over again, wondering who she is. Poor little thing, she must go and assassinate someone all the time.

In Issue 2, from IDW, entitled Nowhere To Run, she is like literally shown on the cover, running. To where perhaps nowhere? Let’s turn the page together, shall we?

Eve has been hired by a repeat client, a little guy who wants to experience the Bull run in Pamplona, Spain. You know, where people run downhill through town, chased by bulls. Fun for the whole crew! This is a really swell way to make a buck, supposedly, and it isn’t Eve’s first ‘rodeo’. But Eve is determined to understand more about who she is and how she got there. The whole Powerpoint, in other words.

The words by David Barnett are wonderful, The pace is accelerated, with loads of interesting things going on. The action and pacing is aided fully by Philip Bond, with Eva de la Cruz complementing things nicely with a colourful, vivid palette. Great fun!

There is a bonus story written by Barnett and illustrated by Liz Prince (with de la Cruz again on colours). It’s an interesting parallel to the main story, with a definitely different take.

IDW, Eve Stranger #2, $3.99 for 24 pages of content. Rated Mature

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words... the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let's see!!
