It’s the sequel we’ve been waiting for: DC’s Batman: Curse of the White Knight. Issue one.

A followup to the critically acclaimed Batman: White Knight, this story picks up with the Joker recruiting Azrael. The Joker wants to expose a secret from the Wayne family’s past, and run Gotham City into the ground.

Just jump on to this eight-issue mini-series right away. Okay, finish reading this review, THEN run out and purchase the first issue. It’s written and drawn by Sean Murphy, with Matt Hollingsworth on colour.

Oh, just a bunch of words now about how wonderful this comic is… you know how it goes: the darkness and the drama. Story and dialogue. The drawings that are architectural in their beauty and their accurate scale, perspective and volume. One could speak volumes of the evil that no man knows where to begin… but the drawings, and the inherently evil atmosphere, the dark that swirls around the pages and the slightly lit figures, the silhouettes. The guest stars that startle us as we start to become enveloped in the mystery.

There, I’ve said enough. It’s epic, it’s awesome, cool, groovy and swell. Batman at his best, the story well crafted, all coming from a master of entertainment.

DC, Batman: Curse of the White Knight #1 (of 8), $4.99 for 24 pages of content. Not rated, assume Teen +

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words... the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let's see!!
