From Boom Comics comes Kong of Skull Island: 2018 Special #1.

This story takes place wayyy back in the days of Vikings. Over the years, the leader of a clan, a warrior female named Gudrun, has become obsessed with Kong, the giant ape on Skull Island. Her crew have had enough of the place, its dangerous wild beasts, and especially of Kong. Gudrun is in danger of having a mutiny on her hands! Enough is enough, even for Vikings!

It’s a rollicking tale of dinosaurs, giant apes, Vikings with big swords, and general mayhem. It’s well written (Paul Allor) and strongly illustrated in a line style (Carlos Magno with colors by Marcelo Costa) that might remind you of (late) veteran comic artist Gil Kane. Lots of writhing bodies, amazing perspective and anatomy revealed, all twisting and turning every which way.

It’s a nasty piece of business, this exploitation of Skull Island, and the Vikings are having to fight for their lives. How will it go, and who will be the victor? Read this one and find out. It’s a Special issue, with a longer story length and a higher cover price.

BOOM Comics, Kong Of Skull Island 2018 Special #1, $7.99 for 43 pages of content. Not rated, so assume: Teen (for violence)

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words... the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let's see!!
