Hang on tight, here comes issue 2 of Cemetary Beach, from Image.

I will say right out: I love this book. It’s a blast to read, and a blast of fresh air.
The story, by Warren Ellis, is about an escaping prisoner and his fighting companion. There’s lots more going on here, but that’s enough to get us started. After that, it’s a gut swinging adventure, with absolutely mind-blowing action, drawn by Jason Howard.

Page after page of wonderful comic story. Figures leaping, figures blowing things up. Big guys, small guys. Tanks, futuristic flying vehicles, in the midst of chaos and dust. Howard has his style NAILED. It is in the same category as Sean Murphy, of Batman White Knight. Lots of black, lots of action, great poses, and no wasted drawing. There is an inventiveness here that is totally invigorating to read.

Time’s up! Put down this review, and run like the Dickens to the comic shop, and hope to heck that they still have a copy of this comic! Go for it!

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words... the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let's see!!
