If you are an Iron Man fan, IDW has the ultimate gift for you: Bob Layton’s The Iron Man Artist Select Series. It’s a signed and numbered hardcover collection of sixteen full colour (!!) Iron Man stories by Bob Layton.

And that’s not all, Iron Man fans! This hardcover edition is limited to 999 copies and comes in a custom slipcase.
It’s oversized, measuring 9″ x 13″, i.e.: larger than usual comic book dimensions.

There’s a long interview with Layton, conducted by Chris Ryall.

The stories start with issue 124 and run in a staggered fashion to issue 250. (Sixteen key stories from 124 to 250)

As we know Layton was one of the few who believed in Marvel’s Iron Man back in the day when the title was actually in danger of being canceled. Issue by issue, he helped revive fan excitement in Iron Man.

The stories are written by David Michelinie, with breakdowns by John Romita Jr, Jerry Bingham, Mark D. Bright, and Jackson Guice. Full pencils in issue 232 are by Barry Windsor Smith, and by Layton in issues 249 and 250. Layton contributes ‘finishes’ (completes the artwork from rough story breakdowns) in all other stories.

IDW and Marvel; Bob Layton’s The Iron Man Artist Select Series, $125 for 391 pages of content. Assume Teen rating

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words... the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let's see!!
