“Human sacrifice. Dogs and cats living together. Mass hysteria.” — Dr. Peter Venkman (Bill Murray)

1984 brought  Egon Spengler, Ray Stantz, Peter Venkman, Winston Zeddemore and Slimer to the big screen with the hit Ghostbusters. 1989 revisited the crew in Ghostbusters 2, and from 1986 for seven seasons the cartoon version The Real Ghostbusters. The characters from the movies and cartoons live on with Diamond Select Toys Ghostbuster Select Action figures.

Marshmallow covered Spengler and Terror Dog was the first figures we were able to review. Each figure came with a build a building piece when collected and combined built Gozer’s high rise top of the building temple. Terror Dog has two sets of horns and lots of articulation. The mouth opened and closed and detail was well done as usual.  Spengler came with 4 sets of hands including two sets gloved, ghost trap, proton pack, particle thrower, particle stream, walkie talkie, P.K.E. Meter, and a stand. This was a PX Exclusive release. Highly detailed with lots of accessories gives you that real movie experience. Great figures recommend getting these if you can still find them.

Ghostbusters 2 figures Ray Stanz, Louis Tulley, Winston Zeddemore, and Peter Venkman round out our next round of reviews. Each Came with Multiple sets of hands, Proton packs, Particle thrower, Particle Stream and  Ray comes with Slime blower and possessed Vego head and jar of pink slime. These are so highly detailed you can read their name tags on the uniform. Pete and Winston come with Santa hats which fit nicely. Winston comes with slime sample retriever unit. Each figure also comes with a build a piece of the Ghostbusters firehouse front.  Handle with caution some parts are very sensitive. These are for collectors only and won’t stand up to rough play. Again great figures I recommend getting these as well and build the firehouse.

The Real Ghostbuster figures, Stay Puff, Ray Stantz, Peter Venkman, And Slimer are welcomed additions to the Ghostbuster Select line. These characters based on the late eighties early nineties cartoon and also include building parts for the Ghostbusters  Firehouse. Slimer comes with two extra heads (tongue out and angry face) and a stand to give him the floating appearance. Stay Puff Marshmallow man comes with minimal articulation, however, it’s stay puff who doesn’t love a squishy giant marshmallow. Pete and Ray come with multiple hands, proton packs, particle thrower, particle beams, and ghost traps. Loved the cartoon and these figure to are spot on to the show with attention to detail.

These all were great figures and fun to play with. I built as much of the firehouse as I could and it to was highly detailed. If I had to pick a favorite out of the bunch I would say Slimer was it. Even for a green blob his multiple heads. his articulation and the clear stand gave him character that stood out among the groups. Details down to wires and hoses on the proton packs, the foot pedal for ghosts traps even having one trap opened and another closed showed how much effort was put into details. If you’re a Ghostbuster fan, grab these you won’t be disappointed. For those who are interested, we will be giving away an extra set of  Series 10 The Real Ghostbusters  Stay Puff, Ray, and Peter on Facebook stay tuned for the giveaway.
