Hasbro celebrates Wolverines first appearance with an amazing 2 pack!

You can’t argue the cultural impact the character of Wolverine has had. He’s been the start of several comic book series, movies, TV shows, and merchandise. Wolverine has become a pop culture icon. But none of this would have happened if he never appeared in The Incredible Hulk #181. From humble beginnings to icon is highly impressive. To celebrate this tremendous moment in Marvel Comics, Hasbro has given us a 2 pack worthy of the celebration.

This set comes with Wolverine and Hulk, and I have to say what a huge size difference between the 2 characters. It really put everything into perspective. Both figures have all the usual points of articulation you expect from Marvel Legends.

Wolverine is dressed in his first costume. It looks very similar to what people refer to has his “tiger stripe” costume. The main difference is the mask. Now in Wolverine’s first appearance, his eye’s were whited out, but in this figure, you can see his eyes. But if you actually look at the cover of The Incredible Hulk #181, you can see Wolvie’s eyes. The rest of the sculpt really looks nice. I have to admit that Wolverine’s shoulder pads bother me a little. They are hinged to his shoulders, and this is definitely a design semantic. Honestly, I don’t think I could come up with something better, but it does gnaw at me for some reason. Wolverine also comes 2 sets of hands: One fists and one clawed. They come off and on very easily.

Hulk is super impressive as well. Hasbro did an amazing job capturing Herb Tempe’s art in Hulk’s face sculpt. The color on the figure is very close to Glynis Wein’s colors. Highly impressed. Like Wolverine, Hulk also comes 2 sets of hands: One fists and one gripping. And also in and out with ease. But what I really love about this figure, is the ripped shirt that hangs on the back and shoulder. It’s made of a kind of rubbery plastic, but the effect when it’s on Hulk it really cool.

Overall this is a must-have set of just about anyone. It looks great either in the box or displayed. And best of all, the Build-A-Figure in the latest X-Men Marvel Legends set is Wendigo! So you can relive all those awesome scenes from The Incredible Hulk #181!

Many thanks to Hasbro for sending this to us. It was great to take a look at this amazing set!
