Ansel and his newfound questing companion travel to the library of banned books to discover its secrets.
‘Ugly’ has a rather unique view of prophecies and fairytales, I’ve never heard of a fairytale where the cursed princess tries to find her true loves kiss quite so aggressively. Ugly is certainly useful for Ansel to have around though and has already saved him more than once so I’m sure he isn’t complaining. They receive help from the most unexpected and a little condescending of places as they ‘sneak’ their way into the library and travel through some literary classics to hopefully find where they need to go.
I loved the ending of this issue as it added a whole new layer/perspective onto the story. Just as I thought that I had the concept figured out this spins it right back on its head which is brilliant. Now I don’t know what’s real and what’s really real but one thing I do know is that a whole whisper of librarians chasing someone down is a scary thing to witness!
