Luna #2, from BOOM! Studios continues the atmospheric vampiric tale of the cult of personality.

Luna, an attractive young woman brought into the close-knit group of forest dweller ‘hippies’ (for lack of a better word) now starts to see the downside of their once aura-filled ambience. She feels the cracks in the cement, the lack of freedom, and the constraints. It’s vampiric in more than just the blood-related association; there is a vacuum of energy in this gathering. Give and keep giving.

For all its ‘free love’ claims and camouflage of a permissive and behavioural panacea, this is a group that has its issues.

Therein lies the rub, the drama, as Luna starts to investigate. The story and art by Maria Llovet are sensuous, seductive, and full of visual lyricism. The searing passions, the curiousity, the mystical aroma of damp woods, the charm and penetrating stare of the predator. Llovet’s drawings and colouring are fascinating as if she is dipping her pen into an age gone by, weaving a magic spell, spinning around like Stevie Nicks, making us believe.

Entrancing entertainment, with flashes of brilliance and nudity.

BOOM! Studios, Luna #2, $3.99 for 24 pages of content. Mature for nudity

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words... the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let's see!!
