Fans can now choose from various editions of the game and additional rewards, with limited time discounts for early bird backers
James Tynion IV’s production house Tiny Onion launched a Kickstarter campaign for Exquisite Corpses: The Game today, a companion tabletop card game tied to the bestselling comic book series co-created by five-time Eisner Award-winning writer and CEO James Tynion IV (Something is Killing the Children) and Eisner Award-winning artist Michael Walsh (The Silver Coin). Fans can now choose from various editions of the party game and additional rewards on the Kickstarter page, with limited time discounts for early bird backers.
Created and developed fully in-house by Michael Walsh & Tiny Onion, fans have been able to playtest an early version ofExquisite Corpses: The Game with cards from polybagged Variant C editions of the comics – inclusive of the rare foil cards – as well as event cards found at Tiny Onion’s Corpse Tour and at conventions. Tiny Onion also launched a website that has instructions on how to play the game, printables, and a studio-produced video playthrough with the creative team.
Since the project’s inception in February 2024, Tiny Onion have been designing and playtesting Exquisite Corpses: The Game alongside the comics’ creation. In addition to the standard Civilian Edition, Tiny Onion is producing two deluxe versions of the game: the elevated Killer Cache Edition, and the elite Thirteen Families Edition.
The Civilian Edition includes 12 killer cards, 24 event cards, 6 different status effect cards, and the instruction booklet. The deluxe Killer Cache Edition includes a special Killer Cache box with magnetic clasp, a Kickstarter exclusive reprint of Exquisite Corpses #1 with cover art by Ian Bertram, 12 oversized killer cards with new art, 24 event cards, premium wood status effect tokens, 13 pink resin dice in velvet bag, a pink and orange playmat, and a special Killer Cache edition exclusive event card. The top-tier Thirteen Families Edition includes a Thirteen Families box with a magnetic clasp, a Kickstarter exclusive reprint of Exquisite Corpses #1 with a gold foil cover, 12 oversized killer cards with new art in foil, 24 event cards, premium metal status effect tokens, 13 gold resin dice in velvet bag, a black and gold playmat, and a special Thirteen Families edition exclusive event card.
Aside from these editions, fans can also get even rarer rewards, including an option to get drawn into Season 2 of the comic book series, original card art by Michael Walsh, and the ultimate Historic Deck, featuring 10 original prototype cards from the first Exquisite Corpses summit, a private Zoom game with Walsh, Tynion, and the Corpse Crew, and all three editions. Retailers can also purchase packs of 25 copies and 100 copies. Fans can also get select add-ons to their orders, including blank sketch versions of the cards
Exquisite Corpses: The Game is a casual tabletop game perfect for fans of trading card classics like Magic: The Gathering and party experiences like Ultimate Werewolf. Needing only a deck of cards and some dice, a group of 4-12 players each pick their favorite killer and proceed to attack, bluff, and barter with their fellow killers until just one remains. No two games are alike, so players can immediately play again and again and get different results.
“Creating Exquisite Corpses: The Game has been one of the most rewarding experiences in my artistic career,” said Walsh. “Getting to develop this game from the ground up and playtest with an incredible group of friends, colleagues and professionals has been an absolute blast. I’ve never had so much fun at work. I can’t wait for old and new fans of the Exquisite Corpses characters to get their bloody hands on these cards.”
“Exquisite Corpses: The Game has been literal years in the making, and alongside Michael and the Tiny Onion team, I could not be more thrilled to finally launch this campaign on Kickstarter,” said Tynion. “The concept of ‘play’ has always been fundamental for us at Tiny Onion as we build new worlds, and Exquisite Corpses: The Game is our first foray into the tabletop gaming space…but with your help, it won’t be the last.”
Exquisite Corpses was the biggest original IP comic hit of 2025; nearly 700k issues have been sold to date in collaboration with publishing partner Image Comics, marking the best debut comic for Tynion in over three years. In the hit comic book series, the wealthiest families in America play a game every five years on Halloween. Twelve of the deadliest people in the world are dropped into a small town with just one goal: last killer standing wins. They call the game “Exquisite Corpses.”
Exquisite Corpses #13, hitting shelves May 27, will conclude the first season/arc of the series created by Tynion & Walsh and co-written and co-illustrated by the all-star Corpse Crew. But, the horror franchise is growing: there will be three new spinoff limited series inspired by the killers (Exquisite Corpses: Rascal Randy, Exquisite Corpses: Fox Mask Killer, and Exquisite Corpses: Lone Gunman), along with an anthology one-shot (Exquisite Corpses: Book of the Dead), in addition to the upcoming second season/arc of the comic series, and a feature film adaptation in partnership with Lyrical Media.
The Exquisite Corpses: The Game Kickstartercampaign is now live, and fans can now back the project. If the goal is met and orders are able to be fulfilled, shipping, tariffs, and VAT costs will be collected after the campaign ends through the Kickstarter Pledge Manager. If anything changes in the timeline or production due to global constraints, Tiny Onion will communicate it promptly and openly with backers.
The Kickstarter campaign will end on June 15th at 12pm ET and the game products are due to be shipped to backers between April 1, 2027 through June 30, 2027.
Praise for the Exquisite Corpses comics:
“Allow Tynion and Walsh to invite you to a fascinating world of enthralling characters that gets you instantly hooked. You won’t regret it.”—Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead, Invincible)
“Exquisite Corpses has everything you could possibly want from a horror series and THEN some. Twelve of the most twisted serial killers battling it out in a series made by comics’ most exciting creators? This book is easily the horror event of the year. My favorite read of 2025!”—Scott Snyder (Absolute Batman, Wytches)
“Every now and then there’s a piece of horror fiction that feels so real, so prescient, so about-to-oh-my-fucking-god-happen-in-real-life, that you hope the creators are completely full of shit. I have read Exquisite Corpses. I hope James Tynion IV and Michael Walsh are completely full of shit.”—Patton Oswalt (Minor Threats)
“Setting up an entire world in one issue is no easy feat, but setting up a world that begs to be expanded upon is even harder. I didn’t just walk away wanting the next issue to come out; I wanted spin-offs and tie-ins. Heck, I wanted to buy all the beautiful variant covers…If the first issue of Exquisite Corpses is such a blast-the-doors-off-the-hinges experience, I cannot wait to see what the rest of the season has in store.”—Gatecrashers
“I was completely hooked, and I don’t think you’ll be able to turn away from the thrilling chaos either.”—ComicBook (5/5 stars)
“A blood-soaked spectacle that’s as ruthless as it is riveting”—AIPT
