The most popular WildC.A.T. get his own figure.

1992, before he was publisher of DC Comics, Jim Lee left Marvel Comic with some fellow artists to create Image Comics. Lee created his own characters for the series WildC.A.T.s. The series was popular and even had a cartoon. Out of the team members, the most popular was Grifter, a gunslinging con man with a good sense of right and wrong. A man with a checkered past trying to make up for all he did wrong. An expert shot and trained in hand-to-hand by a group of warrior women known as the Coda,

It’s been a long time since we got a Grifter action figure. I believe the last time we got one was in 1994 by Playmates Toys. So when I heard that McFarlane Toys was coming out a new figure, I knew I had to have it for my collection.

The design of the figure comes from his recent appearances in the Batman comic. It does look like a modern take on his classic comic and I really do like it. The figure stands at 7″, so he’s taller than my Mattel figures. Not thrilled about that. There are 22 points of articulation. There is some restriction in the waist due to the jacket, There is still a lot of poses you can put him in.

The paint app on the figure are nice and clean. I don’t see and paint bleed. The sculpt is pretty impressive too. The figure’s hands are shaped to hold guns, but he does not come with any guns. This is a DC Comics/ Warner Bros decision. They have decided for any action figures based on their characters don’t have guns. I think this is ridiculous, especially seeing how this is the same with high-end figures like Hot Toys. Grifter is a gunslinger, so especially him not to have his guns is just stupid. Grifter does come with a knife and a sword. Again I have an issue with this. He was tried by the Coda and swords and a cleft blade are their signature weapons as you can see in the picture below:

If feel this is a QC issue. Thank God there are enough customerizers out there that I was able to find a pair of guns that fit excellently in Grifter’s hands.

Overall, I’m extremely happy with this figure, but I am not 1oo% sold on the DC Multiverse line. Todd McFarlane has made this entire line way too Batman heavy. plus the lack of female DC characters is very offputting. I’ll just continue to pick and chose as I see characters come out that I am interested in.
